Winter Moving in Fargo–Moorhead

Shovel both locations, confirm parking, protect entrances, and keep temperature-sensitive items in your own vehicle — winter moving in Fargo–Moorhead takes a little extra planning.

A Fargo–Moorhead winter move comes with its own checklist. Snow, ice, and short daylight hours change how the crew loads and how safely we can carry belongings in and out. A little preparation at both locations keeps things moving — and keeps everyone on solid ground.

Clear snow and ice at both locations

Before the crew arrives, shovel the sidewalks, steps, driveways, and loading areas at your pickup and your delivery address. Make the path wider than a narrow walking strip — the crew needs room for furniture and equipment, not just foot traffic. Treat icy patches with ice melt or sand, and recheck the route before we get there.

Don't forget the parking area. Clear snowbanks so the truck can park close to the entrance, and make sure the crew won't be carrying boxes past parked cars or plowed-in curbs.

Confirm parking and building access

  • Reserve the loading area or parking spot at both locations if the building requires it.
  • Confirm keys, building access, and permitted moving hours before moving day.
  • Tell building management about the truck so they can direct us to the right entrance.
  • Check whether stairs or ramps are iced over and whether the entrance is usable.

Protect floors and entrances

Wet boots, slush, and salt track into every entrance on a winter move. Keep entries clear so the crew can shake off snow before stepping inside. If you'd like floor protection — runners, mats, or plastic — discuss it with us ahead of time so we can include it in the plan.

Keep temperature-sensitive belongings with you

Plants, certain electronics, medications, and anything that shouldn't freeze do best in your own vehicle where you control the temperature. Follow the manufacturer's guidance for electronics before powering them on after exposure to cold, and let them come to room temperature first.

Talk to us if the forecast looks rough. If snow, ice, or extreme cold makes access unsafe, tell us before moving day. We'll talk through the conditions and the options before we proceed — we won't move belongings through unsafe access. See our full preparation guide for weather and access details.

We don't promise to move in unsafe conditions, and we don't charge weather-related cancellation fees. If we need to adjust the schedule, we'll discuss it with you first.
